La Bataille is the classic French version of the card game often called War. Two players share a shuffled 52 card deck split into equal piles. Each turn both players reveal the top card from their pile. The player with the higher rank takes both cards and places them at the bottom of their pile. Ranks follow the standard order with Ace usually high. When both cards have the same rank a battle starts. During a battle each player places one card face down and then one card face up. The face up cards decide the winner who then takes all cards in play. If a tie happens again the battle repeats until one player wins.
The goal is simple. Win every card and leave your opponent with no cards. Gameplay is fast and driven by luck with small moments of suspense during battles. La Bataille appeals to casual players, families, and anyone looking for a short competitive match. Online play allows quick multiplayer rounds, easy rematches, and a familiar rule set that is simple to learn in under a minute.

Frequently Asked Questions
La Bataille is normally a 2 player game. Online versions match two players for head to head play.
When both cards tie each player places one card face down and then one card face up. The face up cards decide the winner. If those cards tie again the process repeats until a winner takes all cards in play.
You win by collecting every card in the deck. The match ends when your opponent has no cards left.
La Bataille is mostly luck based because cards are drawn from shuffled decks. There is minimal strategy in choosing when to reveal but the outcome depends on card order.
Yes. If a player does not have enough cards to complete a battle some rules say they lose. Online games usually handle this by using the remaining cards and declaring the opponent the winner if the battle cannot be completed.
