You control a piston in a cylinder and alternate between three thermal sources: hot, insulator, and cold. Your job is to make each transition at the right moment so the piston follows the ideal Carnot cycle and produces the maximum possible work.

The cycle includes four thermodynamic processes: isothermal expansion at the hot source, adiabatic expansion, isothermal compression at the cold source, and adiabatic compression.
