Above and Below Solitaire is a challenging two-deck card game that asks you to sort all 104 cards into 8 foundation piles. The game starts with a single face-up indicator card. Four foundation piles are built up from the card that is one rank above the indicator, and four are built down from the card one rank below the indicator. Rank wraps from Ace to King and from King to Ace as needed so sequences can continue around the deck.

The stock deals one card at a time to the waste pile. You may move the top waste card to a foundation pile or to one of the four tableau piles. Tableau piles accept single-card moves only and must be built either up or down in the same suit. When a card appears in the waste that has the same rank as the indicator you can move it directly to the indicator pile to start its foundation. After the stock runs out you may collect the waste to reform the stock one time, giving you a second pass.

Unlike many solitaire games, Above and Below allows moving cards between foundation piles when the move remains legal. This extra option raises the chance of success in a game that often requires careful planning. The goal is to move every card to the foundations. Your rank or score increases with every card placed on a foundation.

The game rewards careful sequencing and suit management. Players must balance building on the foundations and using tableau slots to free needed cards. The single-card move rule makes each decision important, so the game appeals to players who enjoy deep planning and steady progress rather than fast pile moves.
